We need to look at this question from the root of diversity, inclusion and belonging in technology. Beyond using tech for diversity & inclusion, we need to increase awareness of where the tech comes from, who built it, why & how they built it, and how diverse that group is. As a co-founder of a minority owned, diverse edtech company, I know diversity, representation and counter narratives are part of the very ingredients that distinguish our solutions. If we as leaders engage community stakeholders in exploring the team roots and motivations tech companies have for building their products, we take a critical step in increasing awareness to choose more representative EdTech partners. Through this we also foster belonging and trust.
