I will encourage open dialogue and actively listen to team member's concerns and ideas. As a servant leader, I guide my team through change by first seeking to understand their perspectives and concerns. Change can be daunting, but by empathizing with my team, I can address their fears and empower them to embrace the transition. I encourage open dialogue, where every voice is heard and valued, fostering a culture of trust where the team feels supported to take risks and innovate.

I believe empowering does not limit itself to encouraging team.It extends beyond this. Not just listen but act on the decisions & viewpoints that the team takes in consensus on any business issue. Empowering others is a rewarding but large responsibility. It's all too easy to accomadate an unconfident or not yet trained individual by abdicating responsibility for them and withholding tasks and privliges reserved for the people whom we like, who exude confidence, or who have more skill. To empower individuals, It is of the highest importance to destroy and discard the idea of good students and bad students but rather believe in and seek to draw out the potential of the people we are with whether family, peers, bosses, subordinates, etc.

As a servant leader, I delegate responsibilities and decision-making authority, trusting in the abilities of my team members. By providing opportunities for growth and development, such as training and mentorship, I enable them to acquire the skills needed to adapt to and thrive amidst change. Additionally, I actively seek out and support their initiatives and innovations, recognizing that their unique perspectives and contributions are crucial to navigating the complexities of change successfully.

„Culture over cookies!” 🍪 I recently read a post about workplace benefits like fruit baskets and one of the responses really stood out to me. It emphasized that a trusting culture is far more important than perks like fruit baskets or cookies. This resonated with me because while small benefits are nice, they can’t replace the value of a supportive and trustworthy work environment (don’t get me wrong - I love cookies).

The six strategies mentioned for the Servant Leader are to guide the team through change. Diverse stakeholder communities especially on business, security, IT Ops etc. that get impacted by the project/program also require time and consistent efforts from the servant leader to engage and manage. On many occasions the Servant Leader acts as a conduit between business and IT stakeholders facilitating key discussions around the change impact to business, detailing out the mitigation strategies and coming up with a workable plan that that is aligned with all concerned stakeholders.
