Trabajando muchos años en equipo, de donde tengo el privilegio de recordar que varios de los que se han formado junto a mis años en los que compartimos actividades profesionales, hoy son Jueces, Camaristas Federales, Secretarios relatores de Tribunal Superior de Justicia, aprendi junto a ellos que la humildad en compartir y transmitir los conocimientos aprendidos, y la constante curiosidad en nuevos, sobre todo en los que ellos mismos me transmitían fueron motor de union y de inagotable necesidad de buscar mas y mas herramientas de progreso en la actividad profesional del equipo de trabajo.

Repeating key points and seeking confirmation ensures understanding. Clarity aligns team efforts and prevents costly errors.

I strive to reread critical messages 4-5 times before I send them. When I do that, I make sure to remove fluff words like adjectives such as big/small, make sure to use 3rd person as much as possible to remain objective, and make my points as concise as possible. This comes out the other side usually as a crisp, well composed message.

I've worked with several individuals now. Empathy is a key player in ensuring team work is top-notch. I've seen that manipulative, controlling, and authoritative higher ups always struggling to ensure team work. Team work only works when you actively show empathy and strive for people excellence.

So, when giving feedback, remember to sprinkle some empathy on top—it’s the secret sauce for building trust and keeping your team happily humming along in real-time!

Empathy is the way forward when it comes to leading successful cultures today. If employees know that their managers, and/or company leadership, relate to their situations and are open to conversation, they would be more than willing to put an extra mile forward. Through empathy, leadership can accurately gauge motivation factors for their teams, hence will know how to engage their members more strongly.

Playing devils advocate is a healthy practice for creating empathy. Try to imagine what communication lines and priorities other people might have when trying to understand and emphasize with them. Sometimes it’s easy to be dismissive, and when we are right we get caught in the act of proving ourselves at the cost of another respect. Be open minded when people voice their concerns and understand and look for multiple reasons to a problem and help them think through their problems. Sharing people’s problems goes a long way with empathy.

Imaginei que um “Café e Feedback” seria uma abordagem leve para nossa sessão de feedback. Encontrei um barista interno e, entre capuccinos e risos, abrimos espaço para sugestões. Cada um compartilhava o que achava que estava “quente” (funcionando bem) e o que estava “frio” (precisando melhorar). Este clima descontraído e acolhedor transformou feedbacks sérios em conversas produtivas, promovendo uma atmosfera onde todos se sentiram valorizados e encorajados a contribuir para o crescimento da equipe. Ao final, saímos não só com novas ideias, mas também com um senso renovado de camaradagem e motivação.

Allow for verbal and written feedback on a regular cadence, once a month works well and two week cadences if more feedback and quicker adjustments are needed. Also, allow the person to choose the option to skip a feedback interval, that doesn’t mean they don’t need to provide feedback regularly, but the best feedback is not forced, it naturally occurs.

Adaptar tu estilo de comunicación es fundamental para ser efectivo como líder. Es importante reconocer que cada miembro del equipo tiene diferentes preferencias y necesidades de comunicación. Ser flexible y ajustar tu estilo según la situación y la persona con la que estás interactuando crea un ambiente de trabajo más colaborativo y receptivo. Esta adaptabilidad es una herramienta muy apreciada pero poco utilizada. Para cada colaborador significa un “tailored o customized”trato (hecho a la medida). Y para el comunicador le refleja un alto nivel de inteligencia emocional y reduce la resistencia de colaborador.

When using technology, it’s good practice to have quiet hours that you refrain from checking your work email or slack while you are out of office. Smartphone allow us to be more communicative and should be used to enable faster responses times when people have to multitask. Also with emails, remember someone always could be blind carbon copied so use proper rhetoric 😅
