Here's how you can increase your visibility within your nonprofit organization.

Produce, Produce, Produce and do NOT worry about the credit. Leadership should want good staff who produce and not staff who just talk about it.

Be visible, consider your audience and their preferences in engagement - tell them what they connect with, in ways and times they prefer...listen!

As with all things in the human experience, there are many ways to increase your visibility in your organization. Here are four that worked for me; 1. Attend and be a contributing member in all meetings. 2. Take the time to get to know and build positive relationships with people at all levels of your organization. 3. Offer to mentor new members and volunteer to share your expertise at training events. 4. Take every opportunity to attend workshops, conferences, and trainings so that you are up-to-date within your organization.

When it comes to engagment it's important to take into consideration the preferred method of engagement. Some people like face to face, while others appreciate a short text or note. Some prefer an activity. However, don't be misled into thinking that any interaction is considered helpful. One must look to create meaningful engagement where the other party feels good and positive about the interaction. By creating productive and meaningful engagement experiences, the results you are hoping for will come sooner.

Increasing your visibility involves proactive engagement and strategic contributions. Start by taking initiative in projects and volunteering for leadership roles, showcasing your skills and commitment. Regularly attend and actively participate in meetings, offering insightful ideas and feedback. Network within the organization by building relationships with colleagues, mentors, and key stakeholders. Share your successes and contributions through internal newsletters, social media, or presentations. Continuously develop your expertise by seeking out training opportunities and staying informed about industry trends. Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a genuine passion for the organization’s mission to leave a lasting impression.

Networking within the organization has the potential to lead to opportunities outside of the organization. Approach colleagues from different backgrounds and skill groups. This will increase your visibility, and help you to develop as a more well rounded employee. Communicate your ideas and collaborate with colleagues. By diversifying your network, you are growing the strength and depth of people who you can help and who can help you.

Success builds on success. Encouraging teams to share success is more than a morale booster, it creates the potential for future collaboration and growth. A proof of concept that is successful leads to another question on how to scale or maximize that success. In the process of scaling, organizations need to evaluate their capacity, which then leads to planning and capacity building. Once capacity is in place an organization can focus on sustainable growth leading to success. 📈

Collective effort = ingenuity of skillful means. Triumphs within an organization that realizes it's laurel wreath moments touch not only staff but all that partake in the event helping to then pattern or set down a template for future success. Peak performance moments recognized are a treasure which can inspire and motivate those on the sidelines who have not yet thought they have a contribution to make to step up to the plate. When they do prepare to help, volunteer, collaborate, take notice of that good that will ebb out into wider circles of embrace. Build in the space where there is no failure only feedback, add in some appreciation and you'll notice creativity and planning bring accomplishments aligned with your company's ideals.

Do people like you? Do people trust you? If you can't answer yes to both of those questions then you can't expect your brand to resonate with anyone.

So the gears are moving and things seems to be happening all at once yet also dovetail ever so seamlessly. Well, a lot of thought, trial and error has gone into making it so. If one falters on the way from A to Z. It's then you might be looking for a lifeboat or even floaties to help you get to the shore of understanding, it's then you're so thankful that someone better at seeing a structured approach can deliver the clues, yes, clues to attaining the mark or standard or achieving results that are much more realistic and measurable. Overwhelm is never a best buddy. Your mentors, guides, peers, supervisor all want your success. You are already there, you are already an important piece of the puzzle. Feedback is not failure, it's a hand up.
