Being defensive is a growth blocker for many an employee during early days. But once we open up to the possibility that there is room to grow, there is so much we can improve. One of my first (negative) feedback from my previous manager while in ServiceNow was that I was defensive. On reflection, I found that I put in a lot of emotion into defending myself. But this feedback took me by surprise and opened up an area of improvement. So to this day when someone criticizes me I try to improve the way I do things rather than being emotional. Again this is not limited to your corporate life but can also be applied in your personal life.
