At entry-level, product features and fulfillment is expected , but at higher level, you need to understand the holistic project, which requires metrics analysis, decision making, XFN collaboration etc as skill set. One of the practical approach is to think as your manager, observe what they are caring about, in the majority situation they have more thorough info and context, try to make yourself on the same page with them.
