In my experience, it would be better to document issues from the perspective of both DBAs and sysadmins, and then explain them to each other. It helps each side to see the problem in the other's eye. As a DBA, I find it interesting to have a comprehensive view of the platform my DBMS is running on. It feels like I can see the roots.

DBA's and Sys Admins often have to work closely together on the same hardware. The DBA, in my opinion, is "using" the platform that the Sys Admin may have built and is tasked with maintenance of it. Lots of DBA's are good with Linux / Unix, but few Sys Admins dip their toes into the database. It is important, therefore, that the DBA understand what they are doing to the hardware that is hosting the database. If the Database Team can explain what the software needs and why (sizing, security, etc), then the Sys Admin will have a better understanding of the load the hardware may face. They may also have tips on how to better utilize the systems. When DBA's and Sys Admins work together, they can be much more proactive than reactive.

Every system I have worked in as a manager role functioned best with a collaborative IT/Tech owner and business owner working as equal but different system owners. Tech teams should know the grasp, limitations, and possibility of a tool. But they are not using it for your business and something that may be technically sophisticated may have no business value. Likewise a simple tech fix can be a game changing request when it comes to business functionality.

Its not just about understadning the roles its all about complimenting and collaberating the work. Both DBA & SA to understand at least 10-20% work of each others and work mutually. DBA to cross skilled themselves in some of the system administrators tasks and vice-a-versa, this could be the better approach.

I believe that every DBA should have strong sysadmin skills. It's very common for a DBA to have to maintain the underlying infrastructure of the databases whereas they are in an OS or containerized environment. Also to fully understand databases operational processes on a low level you need to have a strong understanding on how the OS works and the communication that happens between the kernel and all the system components. Being a good sysadmin will boost your DBA skills.
