As a product manager, you must be able to apply the concepts you've learned and present them in a practical form, such as through thought-provoking articles or case studies. Do not confine yourself to a single technology or methodology. As a product manager, you need to possess a diverse and evolving skillset to stay relevant and valuable. Embrace new tools, frameworks, and industry trends, and strive to implement them effectively in your work. Demonstrate your expertise not just through certifications but through tangible results and measurable impacts on the products you manage.

Ask your leader to be placed on those projects with your newfound knowledge.

Think about getting specialized training or certifications to set yourself apart. The more proficient and knowledgeable you are, the more valuable you become to your employer or potential employers. It's important on your resume to show this success with quantifiable data. Find a way to show the impact. Ideally as part of your project you had KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)or OKRs (Objectives & Key Results). These directly translate to selling these successes, for example, 'launched a new marketing feature that increased weekly active users by 15% in the first two days of launch', etc.

Build success to the products that you manage and get success in your career. There are no limits in the salaries that you can ask for such expertise

Your network is your net worth. It is important to build and nurture the network when you do not need a job change so that you can build credibility over the year and with this, you can start getting more inbounds. The biggest delta to career growth is better opportunities which comes directly from your network.

Let's talk in terms of the law of nature: A hyena can never get into the herd of lions, no matter how hard it "networks." Lions will only invite other lions into their pride. Unless you are worth something, all these connections will be just a click away from the recycle bin! If you want something from others, it happens when you offer something to the table. I believe networking automatically happens when you get yourself involved in the process. Work brings you to people. In order to find work, the best way is to start by developing your own expertise through DIY.

You can get a lot of benefits from networking with other product managers. Discussing with product managers in the same industry can get you updated with the industry trends. Such is value that add to your profile. Also I see product management expertise is not limited to the industry that PM working in it. But expert competent PM is capable to contribute value as a PM in any other industry with easy onboarding and orientation. Thus networking with experts in other industries will open new potential opportunities for high skilled product manager.

More importantly ensure the value you are providing is in a career level higher than the one you are in currently. If the value contribution comes from tasks associated with your current level, your manager could respond the work was expected and not be convinced the value is worthy of a salary bump.

Ideally, this is a semiannual meeting, which would give you 6 months to prepare and build a case for your higher salary. This conversation will also give you an opportunity to identify if your company is even considering providing raises in the next fiscal year.

Trust in you also increases and this is an exponential curve rather than a straight-line curve. With time when other people are leaving you will be the one with the experience and skills to take up the role so that will also help you grow 2. Appraisal timing - Here you should be ready with an answer to why you deserve a raise. You should be able to define your achievements and work. Leep in mind to be flexible enough to give the other person time to work towards what you have asked for. They will also need approvals
