Many times we promote people to leadership positions because they were good at the tasks of the job they were doing. Once we promote them they are not responsible for tasks anymore, they are now responsible for the "people" that do the tasks. Leadership training is essential for newly promoted leaders. Leading people is not a skill set that just happens it must be practiced and taught.

Mi experiencia laboral la forjé en empresas de IT, por lo cual apalancar las acciones de RRHH con la tecnología fue parte de mi entorno. Por lo tanto implementar software para muchas tareas del sector ayudan a tener un control mayor sobre los procesos, evidencias y a su vez, mejor información para el análisis, la toma de decisiones y gestión. Pueden ser para administrar nómina, para gestionar licencias (super recomendados), realizar circuitos internos de gestión - selección, análisis de desempeño, clima - Colaboran con la organización, los flujos de información, son amigables y su vez eficientes con el tiempo.

En lo particular, como área transversal de RRHH, me ha funcionado muy bien empoderar al equipo, fomentar que interactúen directamente con las personas de toda la organización sin importar el nivel, algunas veces aparecen barreras y procuro ayudar para mejorar la comunicación. Con lo anterior, los proyectos avanzan mucho más rápido y el servicio mejora pues la cercanía y comunicación constante generan confianza y recibimos una percepción más clara de las necesidades de las áreas.

En una compañía en la cual me desarrollé, teníamos acciones de este tipo y puedo decir que son muy motivadoras. Fomentar la colaboración de otros compañeros lleva a tener diferentes miradas y a su vez más sponsors a la hora de implementar algún cambio o generar un nuevo proyecto. Lo sugiero!

I have noticed across several companies in my career that the most innovative ideas result from an unexpected opportunity, challenge or crisis that impacts the business. Covid was a good example of this, but why wait until the situation is “real” to challenge our thinking and ways of working? I would encourage using scenario planning combined with brainstorming to push ourselves out of our current comfort zones and think creatively before it becomes a necessity to do so under duress.

Humans live in the grey—things aren't always black and white. Often, the best solutions lie in those grey areas because we are all different. In HR, this means encouraging your team to think outside the box and develop tailored solutions on a case-by-case basis. Whether it's resolving a conflict, implementing a new policy, or finding a win-win outcome, creativity is key because the answers aren't always written down. By fostering a culture that embraces experimentation and is comfortable navigating uncertainty, it empowers your HR team to find creative solutions and to stay agile.

Provide Time and Resources for Experimentation: Provide dedicated time and necessary resources for employees to experiment. For example, allocate weekly time for innovative projects that are not directly related to their primary duties.

This is your place to model intrapreneurship through your people operations. However, I also strongly encourage you to use evidence-based management practices to inform your experimentation. You don't have to commit all the errors and incur their costs on your own. Learn from the body of knowledge and hire people who understand such applications of knowledge into practice.

La formación y actualización es la clave de la innovación. Particularmente me desarrollé en empresas de IT donde la atracción de nuevos talentos siempre va en parte de la mano con la innovación, por ello, el equipo de People o RRHH es quien debe mentenerse a la vanguardia.

He implementado un sistema de recompensa en particular en un equipo de trabajo que justamente necesitaba de motivación entre miembros del mismo equipo. Se realizó a través del sistema de intranet de la compañía. Constaba de tener "recomendaciones" entre los compañeros, cuando alguno compartía algun dato o ayudaba al otro. Superó las expectativas, todos querían tener reconocimientos, por lo que los resultados fueron motivación, orientación a resultados y buen clima laboral.
