I would like to add my perspective as a CRM user. I have experienced the era of Excel sheet reporting and have used many CRM tools since then. One CRM tool I find particularly easy to use provides a clear understanding of sales processes and business overview. It is crucial to achieve that balance so that sales reps do not feel overburdened by a nonfunctional CRM. I hope to see many more contributions on this topic; a good CRM is often one of the critical foundations of success!

While the points/steps are valid: When dealing with CRM cloud vendors, it is difficult to get the whole data ‘story’ - which is needed to fully validate and understand data relationships. My experience is CRM vendors provide ‘reports’ of your data but fail to provide their data model - of which, would be valuable to see data duplication/inconsistency issues. Example: One company I worked with had 62% duplication and client data cross-populated with unrelated other clients. The issue was an API that was purported to be valid to synchronize one vendor CRM to another. Both CRM vendors would not claim responsibility or correct the API issues. Always evaluate data to find these issues!!! - requires analysis of CRM extracts. Vaughn
