I'll disagree in general with this advice here. Yes iteration is often required. However it is not the only way to arrive at an optimum solution. It certainly is not the quickest or lowest cost. When the best way to solve a failure or problem is uncertain, please consider using a "set based concurrent design" technique. This a standard Lean technique that allows much more control over the time and cost.

Use any quick prototyping technologies (e.g. 3D printing) to get fast prototypes for your product (even in miniature models), cause physical perception and trying your components out will boost your feel about the product than just relying on virtual perception. However I believe it is the branch, where you learn Metallurgy/chemistry Electrical technology, measurement, drawing, software, data analytics or maths, heat and mass transfer, production technology, etc All in one ..
