Vertical farming is the practice of growing crops indoors, usually in stacked layers, using artificial lighting, controlled temperature and humidity, and hydroponic or aeroponic systems. It has been touted as a way to increase food production, reduce land and water use, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. But how can vertical farming be made sustainable in the long term, especially in terms of energy efficiency, environmental impact, and economic viability?
