WIth any automatic renewal, I would provide notice immediately. This doesn't mean you are canceling right away, but prevents any chance that you'll let the notice period slip and renew accidentally. You're also in a stronger negotiating position without autorenewal, and can likely secure a discount by avoiding the automatic renewal altogether.
