One must also not overlook the current carrying capacity of each point most especially the output modules. A provision has to be made for expansion as well. It's been a few years, since I've had to spec a controller, so my way of thinking may be outdated, but Allen Bradley Control Logix controller, is my choice, regardless of what the application. Whether or not to use a less expensive Small Logix controller, or a more powerful controller would depend on what the application requires. What kind and how much I/O does it require? Does it require motion control capability? How much memory? Would programming languages other than ladder be a plus? Any number of things would determine the final controller, but I'd start with Allen Bradley.

It's depend on items no.1 4) Price and durability (more high spec of PLC more expensive the price) 5) Customer user friendly refer to PLC type that customer most familiar use in their factory. It will help them to shorted their time for troubleshooting or doing improvement for sequence in future.

How much clock speed of cpu that depends on your project .in normal projects an ordinary plc is enough. 3. Type of inputs and outputs.for example there are relay type of output and transistor type Which depends on how much current is required for output devices you can use relay or transistor. 4. Project budget.for example there are mini plcs for small projects that are economic models and are most enough but if you have more budget and more accuracy required you can use better and more expensive models like siemens plcs. 5. The latest parameter in my point of view is maintenance that requires better plc models like siemens.
