The implementation of a shift left testing with test automation in a project, after QA engineer analysis was agreed with the Client on four strategic points, where the combination of them will become an end-to-end testing: Static analysis (inspection), Unit testing (code), Integration testing(code) and System testing(manual). From the static analysis (requirements docs), checking flows, inputs, outputs and trying to identify gaps or ambiguities we can fill up the system testing needs and achievables. From unit testings we can assure that the data for external and internal integrations will be validated before Integration phase. From the integration testing we can assure that it attends the requirements and system testing.

Agree..i am trying to intrgrate api tests into my pipeline..but deployments happen nly twice for on prem applications..hence when the dev commits code, tests are not executed on the current code base…the microservices have sort of mesh dependency..how can we over come these challenges!!

Use a mix of shift left and shift right test approaches. Both approaches complement each other and contribute to a comprehensive testing strategy. "Shift left" helps prevent defects from entering the system, while "shift right" helps catch issues that might have been missed earlier. All members consider quality and help work towards in their own way.

Even if you have version control, issue trackers, test management systems, and dashboards you can still miss Use Cases if you don't understand who (what role) is using the software, what they need to be able to do (some action they perform), and why (business reason.) Without that level of understanding, you can fail to have test cases that cover ALL aspects of the Software, leading to incomplete delivery of the business value and many subsequent releases or patches.

One thing I have found useful is the umpteen number of test runs that can be triggered/scheduled in pipeline helping people and software collaboration across geography. The amount of time saved in analysis , debug and retrospection in not something to be looked down. The beauty lies in how well we learn to utilise the controls we have to maximum throttle.

Though Test continiously is effective but it negates the cost effective KPI. Balanced view will be to have Risk Based Continious testing so that we ensure P1 and gold flows are always protected and working
