How can you compare employers effectively?

An organization's work culture is their way of life in total. It is what they hold dear and what matters to them. Their values are what they stand for. Before accepting an offer, ask yourself if their culture and values aligns with yours. If they don't, you'll struggle in that organization.

Asking each interviewer to describe the workplace culture in their own words for the global company as well as the individual department will reveal gaps and highlight similarities.

I couldn’t agree more!! Organisational culture should be in the top 3 considerations of what you are looking for in a new role. In my experience a great way to gain some valuable insights comes during the interview process and asking your interviewer questions - after all interviews are a 2 way conversation. Consider some aspects of culture that are important to you and prepare 2-3 questions: - How do leaders and others in your business recognise the contributions of employees? - Can you tell us about a time that the company celebrated its success with employees? - What do you enjoy the most about working for this company?

*Research: Explore each company's website, social media and employee reviews to understand their stated values and culture. *Network:Connect with current or former employees to gain insights into the company culture firsthand. *Reflect on your own values and preferences and determine how they align with each company's culture. * Consider benefits, work life balance, diversity initiatives and any other policies that reflect the company's values. * Pay attention to your gut feeling about each company and how you envision yourself fitting into their culture.

Review external communications from the organisation on social media platforms and how they have been engaged with. This can give an overview of what is important to the organisation and you can make a decision on if that matches with your current values.

If the pay isn't right you'll get disengaged in no time. The pay should be worth your time. Do a market research on what employers pay for that role. Know your worth, make the right choice. Apart from base salary you should consider other factors such as flexibility, cost of living and transportation or even paid vacations.

Consider not only the salary but also benefits like healthcare, retirement plans, and bonuses. Assess how well the compensation package meets your financial needs and long-term goals.

One thing you should look out for when interviewing is opportunities for growth. How does this company handle growth. Do they pay for trainings, courses and certifications? What about career growth and development? Consider all of these before taking that offer.

As one of my recent experience while interviewing the candidate for the role of Sales. I have asked her the push and pull factor for her and get to know that she is looking for growth opportunity but as she is having some common connection and get to know there is no more growth opportunity as their employees in the same place after successful completion of 2 years just a bit of salary increases other than that everything is the same no addition in responsibility or position. So they choose to leave his current organisation. So people nowadays cross check the growth and personal and professional development if they find the company is not following what they promise to do based on performance so they do not hesitate to leave the place.

Evaluate opportunities for skill enhancement and career advancement. A company that invests in employee development can help you reach your full potential.

So so important and something that companies have been forced to take more seriously in this post-pandemic world. You see many companies now posting "hybrid role" on their LinkedIn job posts. This is another way of attracting candidates to apply.

Work-life balance is very important. A healthy life depends on a healthy work-life balance. You need to stay alive to work so choose an organization that prioritize your health and work-life balance.

Balance is essential for overall well-being. Look for employers that support work-life balance through flexible hours, remote work options, or generous leave policies.

If their vision aligns with what you do then make them your choice! It's that simple. This way you won't struggle, you should enjoy what you do.

Seek meaning in your work. Companies with a clear mission and a positive impact on society can provide a sense of purpose that goes beyond a paycheck.

Be careful of the perceived company's brand. There are some well established companies who had a specific reputation, and who tried to ride on that reputation long after they've stopped upholding that brand. It's best to speak to current employees to get a feel of what the brand is really about.

I completely agree to cross check with the current employee before taking any decision because you think it's a good MNC to work but after joining you will get to know there is nothing much to learn to grow you will just get the tag of brand that's it so it's very important to see their growth chart culture and initially they are mange the reputation but slowly it's fading so maintaining the reputation of the brand for sustainable growth is very important

Ultimately, it depends on what your requirements are and what you need to get out of the job that should inevitably decide which company you go for. But the pointers above are a great start to help you make the right choice for you.

I suggest breaking down your requirements, and creating some questions regarding those. When looking at your requirements, try the following: - What must I have in a new employer (Benefits, PTO, Culture, on site or remote, hours, etc) - What can I live without (same as above) - How does the employer/industry/job impact my career (advancement, learning new skills, new industry) - Total Compensation - (Salary, bonus, benefits cost, company paid benefits, 401K match, pension, etc) Build yourself a spreadsheet like you are buying a product and comparing features.
