This is about mindset to me. If you are naturally the type of person who will reflect and think, what has this taught me, what can I learn from this. Some organisations promote themselves as a learning organisation, if you can embed this message into your natural language, over time the culture is more likely to change.

Before investing in training programs, it’s crucial to pinpoint the exact skills, knowledge, and behaviors your employees need. Utilize surveys, interviews, performance reviews, or gap analyses for a comprehensive learning needs assessment. This approach helps prioritize topics that are most relevant and urgent, ensuring your training is both efficient and effective. By aligning training with specific needs, you prevent resource wastage on irrelevant or outdated content. Moreover, it aligns your training goals with your business objectives, ensuring a more strategic and impactful learning experience. This targeted approach not only enhances employee competencies but also contributes to overall organizational growth and success.

Second, create engaging contents in short videos (since we have short attention span, even shorter than goldfish, apparently). Third, designate one day of the week or month for learning e.g., Wellness Wednesday.

Encourage mentoring and coaching program to build up capacity of your potential leaders, whereas the coachee set up their own personal objectives for the career growth. Their aspirations shared with the coach, to be progressed together throughout. Coach plays a vital role to create directions to the coachee. This is one of the powerful tools to be used to build up soft skills. When they are skillful, they can then train others through knowledge sharing and such, and also, they can apply mentoring and coaching to their identified successors too, and this is also how you duplicate skills across your team.

Make continuous learning apart of the company's core values. This will make it an expectation and set the learner’s mind to know they are required to learn. Having access to different platforms will allow a cost-effective solution to the company. Giving the learner’s multiple platforms to choose from will create a sense of choice and independence.

I have found it helpful to provide tools and time for continuous learning. When tools are easily accessible to continue learning it makes it easier to encourage this culture.

An online learning platform is great when you want to learn something from a trusted source. I have found that when the company gives you time to learn and recommends a learning path, you know what you can do to benefit the organization. I like teaching when I can; it feels better when your team shows you how to do something better from the learning resources they've been given.

We all have experienced that real learning happens with practical experiences. But no learning is possible wothout learners intent and will to learn. In absence of this, how much ever you try it will not be translated in retaining long term knowledge. In the era of choices I feel that the choice of what/how/when to learn has to be offered to the person learning within a framework designed for the learning enhancement and not achieving a HR mandate. All employees mark their attendance to ensure no deduction of salary. Why can't we have a case where no attendance can be marked without completing the customery learning of that day. Obviously the content has to relevant, interesting, byte size and available at all time.

Learning through observation has been an effective tool. Organizations where leaders display best practices both on soft skills as well subject matter, the colleagues learn a great amount just by observation & practice.

Leverage internal talent by creating a buddy program/initiative, or a peer-to-peer coaching program. However, I find that these should be directed by someone dedicated to it, as otherwise if done via self-service these initiatives may not receive enough engagement. In addition, employees could become internal subject matter experts - this way everyone has an ownership over something (may promote accountability, leadership, increase motivation), and can teach others about that particular product, service or method.

Actually I disagree, whilst positive feedback is important, the rewards for continuous improvement makes it something different from day to day working. To embed the required culture it has to become part of your team's identity; peers push each other and continuous improvement becomes the norm. It shouldn't need a certificate or be rewarded as an exception.

I agree. Positive motivation has always been part of learning,I mean, if we look back at school or college education system. If the same would be incorporated here, it can build a positive outlook of the employees towards training. For example, just by picking out the top learner(the one spent maximum time learning apart from his daily work), continuous learner, voluntary learner awards can make a big impact. Also, presenting certificates on successful completion of training or just posting a post on company’s social media handles (of the awardees) can be another budget friendly way.

Nach meiner Erfahrung ist es auch sehr wichtig, dass ein Wir-Gefühl in einer gemeinsamen Lerngruppe entsteht. Dabei ist es unerheblich, ob die Qualifizierung online oder in Präsenz durchgeführt wird. So motivieren sich die Teilnehmenden selbst und neben den Inhalten ist auch die Freude auf das Wiedersehen für das Dranbleiben entscheidend.

This requires being honest with yourself and (hopefully) having a trusting environment where your team members can let you know where you need to improve. I hate getting things wrong and I hate being wrong but I feel worse when I never get corrected and find that I've been wrong the whole time. Building trust among your team members helps to mitigate this problem. I have found that a trusting environment leads to better learning outcomes.

De hecho, muchas empresas ni saben que lo tienen. Y las grandes empresas casi nunca llegan a usarlo íntegramente. Es una pena que se desperdicie un dinero que se podría utilizar para formación, para cursos que no sean "otro curso más", online o presenciales.
