I totally agree with doing research prior to networking if you know who is going to be there. Sometimes you go in blind to the guest list. Try to remember names, conversations from previous meetings and now that we can shake hands again, a big smile and a good handshake of acknowledgment of your joy in seeing another guest is a great start.

Be attentive and polite and move on with good grace, rather than make it obvious that you are not wanting to engage with someone. They may have the perfect sales lead or business collaboration for you so ask them a few questions about how they are doing before making the assessment to walk straight through them. Business etiquette should be to leave your phone on silent and in your pocket when networking meetings. If you need to take a call apologise and leave the room with dignity.
