How can you evaluate the effectiveness of your curriculum using peer and self-assessment?

I generally expect college faculty to be their own worst critic. We give faculty an enormous amount of freedom on how they design and deliver their courses which is how it should be. What I encourage is to approach teaching the same way they would approach research - read the literature and understand what are the best practices in the field and then try different approaches and assess the results. Collaborating with colleagues on both content and pedagogy is critical.

As an experienced educational leader, I evaluated curriculum effectiveness by implementing structured peer and self-assessment processes. I trained teachers to critically review their peers' teaching methods and curriculum delivery, fostering a collaborative environment for sharing best practices and feedback. Simultaneously, I encouraged self-assessment by having educators reflect on their instructional strategies against set objectives and student outcomes. I compiled these insights to identify areas for improvement and success, leading to targeted professional development and curriculum adjustments. This approach ensures continuous improvement and maintains high educational standards.

Self assessment encourages one's power to analyse his/own content knowledge and it's a good to to enhance the self skills where as peer assessment is also about giving the positive responce on the assignment of the partner with proper evaluation. For any learner the bath assessments are very important to enhance the content knowledge

One way to implement self-assessment for students in online education is to assess a baseline for students, and ensure they are evaluated throughout their course by using measurable learning outcomes and exit learning outcomes. This can be through outcome-based questionnaires whereby students can review their knowledge before engaging with content and after engaging with content. Feedback can then be provided on their ratings on these and further steps can be taken to ensure a student is supported if they feel they are not proficient enough. Peer activities can then be used to increase their aptitude by ensuring there are discussion forums or group work activities.
