How can you find a mentor or coach to help you grow?

Why someone needs a mentor or a coach? Because it's been suggested on every book about career, or someone told you that it would further your career... ? We all need a mentor/coach to develop our "critical thinking and problem solving" skills. This skill, is the number one skill, which have been sought by everyone, since the beginning of time. Observe; who is doing something better than you, be humble; ask them what is their train of thought and, listen; learn from their experience. Assimilate and/or internalize the behavior.

What is so very critical and simply sensible. Whether it is a Chair setting an agenda for the board or an intern at the beginning of their career. What is the Major objective? What is the first Minor objective within the framework of the Major objective? When is it due? How will I do that? Then Review. Rinse. Repeat. The grand arch of one's life and work can be exciting to ponder upon and design. Yet it is in the thick of it. In the midst of the work and hard graft. That it is forged into reality. When finding your mentor or coach. Arm yourself with curiosity. As it can be a joyous moment when there is a match of personalities, requirement and stages in life and career. Also arm yourself with the ability to discern what / whom does not work for you. Of course approach them respectfully. Yet also approach them in the right context and channel. Context - build and broaden your understanding of what the mentor and coach's career has exemplified How do you support and engender the next stage? When the time is right - simply ask How may I support you in your ambition and when or if you deem it right, I would love to get some advice from you about my career? Channel - where does your ideal mentor and coach "live" Is it on LinkedIn. Another social platform. On a voluntary board? A member of a sporting club Where is the highest probability of encountering them? Create rapport - build trust - offer help - then ask for help Don't rush the process. I think is way simpler than most folks think. Know what you want, don't be afraid to ask for help, be respectful and kind and seek to return the favor or service in some way. If nothing else, always seek to pay it forward to someone else. If you never ask, you will never get. Most people are willing to help or share, if they are not, simply move on and ask someone else.
