In my opinion, leaders can communicate better when they listen actively - focus entirely on the person, watch the body language for non verbal ques and comprehend what they say. It is important to know your audience and draft the message accordingly for effective communication. Display empathy by listening attentively. Don’t forget to ask good / relevant questions to clarify their point of view. Finally, be authentic by showing real interest in people. In a nutshell- You ‘ve really got to love them🤗

In my view strengthening communication for leaders for a healthy work environment includes: Practical Workshops: Practical workshops related to speaking, listening and body language. Personalized Coaching: Personalized coaching leaders. Feedback Culture: Creating a culture of continuous improvement. Leadership by Example: Leading through actions in communication. Technology Tools: Communication tools training and introduction of leaders. Cultural Awareness: Providing training on cultural respect. Promoting Openness: Creating a space for free talk. Emotional Intelligence: Emphasizing emotional intelligence in communication.

Adapting their communication style to individual team members is key. Leaders should become comfortable delivering their message in a variety of ways, so that each team member can feel understood and aligned with the vision of the company and/or project. Each employee might need messaging, instructions, or feedback delivered in a certain way in order to understand the value they bring to the project and be in sync with colleagues on a shared goal. Individualizing the message and adapting to others' preferred communication styles can help lead the team to work together much more harmoniously.

So message clarity will improve employee effectiveness by 3x.

Encourage active listening, questioning, and appreciation when receiving feedback. In feedback, the Sandwich method is key, starting with a positive note, then addressing an improvement area, and ending on an upbeat note. The crucial part? Lowering defenses first. If barriers stay up, feedback is often rejected, triggering self-defense. Understanding human behavior is essential for productive feedback.

Effective leadership is not possible without effective communication. To lead you need to make people want to follow, to adopt your vision or pathway to success. 1. Feedback is a process. It doesn't just happen one time. 2. Take ego out of the equation. At the end of the day, the goal is to be more effective and learning what does or doesn't work directly from those you are trying to lead or persuade is necessary. 3. Involving others in you becoming a better communicator is an opportunity for personal growth and development. 4. Feedback is give and take, you have to be just as good at giving it as receiving it. 5. When giving feedback try to start with something positive so the recipient isn't defensive from the start.

There's little better than sharing a video or audio recording with your client and letting them listen to themselves. Rarely does anyone get the chance to watch and listen to them speak. This will be eye opening in itself.

Once you identify what you want to work towards, you need to create simple strategies to practice, and individuals that will hold your client accountable. Who can your client ask to "watch" and provide feedback in their current environment?

I agree with all that is being said. I would add that they can develop better communication skills by learning to be curious and build their active listening skills. Curiosity is a super power in my opinion. The more curious we are, the better we can connect with others and understand them and their perspective. Also, when leaders aren't afraid to be vulnerable and can show empathy, they will connect better and individual communication as well as collective communication becomes more open and effective. All this being said, without strong listening skills, communication can become one-sided.

That involves focus, discipline and openness - because you might hear something you'd rather not know. But when you're open to challenge yourself and you want a fantastic team that sees you as a strong leader and great communicator: start listening!
