Start by connecting your metrics to your product objectives. What's the ultimate goal for your product, and how do you plan to measure success? Make your metrics SMART—specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Key objective is to meet customers needs. BUT those needs are intangible gutfeelings hardly ever expressed "professionally". Fortunately, customer needs can be translated into measurable criteria. THE straight forward tool to translate customer needs into measurable criteria and requirements is QFD. QFD will help you to get from customer's gut feelings to an actual specification of your future solution.
