One of the things that got me as interested in computer science and software development as I am, was finding projects that solved problems I had in my own life that were fun. A great example of this was my pizza button. When I was in early high school, I would order a lot of pizza and I wanted to automate the process of having to go type my full order in each day so I took to programming to create a button that would order my favorite pizza if I pressed it. The long story short, is I found something that was fun, and solved what I considered a problem in my life at that time and it gave me a much deeper understanding and love of software development and programming.

I had couple of courses in college about database modeling and implementation, all with the same professor, he had us do a 'hunger games' exercise before each exam. Students would be randomly split in pairs, and perform tasks that awarded a bonus to grade in the exam, but there was a catch, once a task had been completed correctly only the pair that got it right first would be awarded, there were at most 3 questions available on the board and about 15 questions in total. This created a competition between the students that was incredibly fun, I learned to work with databases and integrating them to software under pressure, and I consider this experience formative to my career.
