How can you manage a team of SEM professionals with different levels of experience?

One thing I’ve found useful while working with people of different skill sets and knowledge levels is TRAINING! We never know it all and every opportunity to learn, fine tune skills and develop better ways to apply knowledge is always a plus.

Priorities in SEM can vary based on the goals, industry, and target audience of a particular business. The dynamic nature of search engine algorithms and user behaviors often requires constant adaptation and optimization to stay competitive and achieve desired results

To assess your team's SEM skills, analyze their campaign outcomes, focusing on KPIs like click-through and conversion rates. Review their strategies for keyword selection and ad copy effectiveness. Utilize practical tests simulating real-world SEM challenges to evaluate their hands-on skills. Incorporate peer reviews for insights into collaboration and problem-solving abilities. Also, observe their adaptability to new trends and tools in SEM. This approach gives a well-rounded understanding of their proficiency and areas needing improvement.

It doesn't only go with SEM but any profile or job role. It's intrinsically crucial to align every team member towards the mission of the organization and the ultimate goal. No matter how much ever experience does one or the other team members hold, we should inculcate the confidence in every team member to put their ideas on the table as well as make an environment where everyone is open to learning from each other. The primary requirement shall be to carry out a 'self assessment' of the team members, identify individual expertise, capabilities, strengths & weaknesses, allocate jobs & fix responsibilities, organise an orientation program to make aware of corporate cultures, values, goals & objectives, familiarise with the products / services, costs, their operations and utilities, the competitors & their products, coverage areas, offer training programs - inhouse & external - for value addition, organise well defined reporting system and functional & mutually beneficial grievance redressal formula and fix visible accountability process.
