These messages might take long to customise but these are most effective in increasing response and engagement. The candidate feels a sense that they are not spoken to by a bot.

Use an approachable tone (but one that fits you). You don’t want to use phrases that are outside your comfort zone or everyday use. I think of this when I reach out to Gen Z- you won’t find me using words like “rizz” in a message but I try to find differing approaches depending on who I’m talking to. As an Indigenous person, I often use my Native language when reaching out to other Natives to highlight a common ground. When reaching out to alums from my school, I often shout out our mascot. There are ways to make your message stand out! Think about the messages you’ve opened before.

The biggest way I can convert an online exchange to an application is by getting off of email/DMs and get them on the phone or zoom. Offer to hop on a call to discuss the position and its benefits to the person. Offer to answer any questions they have. The more personable the approach the better the candidate experience and outcome. Maybe you’ll find they’re not actually qualified for the role you’re looking to fill, or that they’ve been a previous applicant before. Maybe they’re exactly what you’re looking for. But you may not know this if you keep it online. The back and forth online can take time but speeding up the process and answering in-person/phone may be the best approach I’ve found for both parties’ efficiency.

Depending on the site you're posting on, different things might yield better results (ie- videos perform better on this platform vs that platform). Whatever you do, I think being consistent is key regardless of whatever you do. Check the analytics to see the data, and ask others in your space. Ask your audience directly too, you'd be surprised what they will tell you if you just ask honestly.
