In my experience, communication has to also go hand in hand with extensive, deliberate & ongoing training. Stakeholders need to understand what diversity and inclusion really means. They need to understand what kind of different biases exist. HR professionals have to find that delicate balance between creating a DEI environment and not doing things just to check that diversity box off.

What's the most important thing in the world - 'Trust' because once it's lost, either it's impossible or ultimately hard to gain. So try to build an equilibrium of Rapport and Trust, and keep it, especially while you're including everyone and considering them equally, just don't feel them broken or leave alone.

Building trust and rapport also has a lot to do with, listening and acknowledgement of a persons lived experience even though it may not be yours. In my experience it makes it a lot easier to build trust.

Networking in a broad range as possible in terms educational backgrounds, race, gender, social economy, etc. Do the networking long before you need it. Maintain a good healthy relationship.

The hiring manager does not need to know a name or location to determine if they want to pursue the candidate. When I recruited, I ignored the candidate's personal information and went directly to their experience. Try it out.
