In my experience it's important to take the initiative and proactively seek out regular conversations with your manager. During these conversations, you can ask for feedback, clarify your role and responsibilities and gain a better understanding of their priorities and challenges. However, it's equally important to always have an agenda that provides value to both you and your manager. This means, coming to the conversation prepared with ideas or solutions that can help them achieve their objectives. By taking the lead in this process and consistently adding value to the conversation, you can stand out as a proactive and capable team player that can help drive the company's success.

Demonstrar que está atento ao fato de que precisa entregar resultados é fundamental e, para tanto, é importante saber quais são seus objetivos e o quais serão as métricas da sua avaliação. Cuidado para não cair na armadilha de focar apenas nas suas metas quantitativas, pois você será observado também pela forma como as alcança. Isso tem a ver com seus comportamentos e atitudes. Embora sejam fatores aparentemente subjetivos, ter isso bem alinhamento é de extrema relevância.

Na minha vida executiva, sempre procurei manter uma agenda semanal com meus gestores e inclusive quando ocupei cargos de direção. Eu mesma fazia questão de agendar para dar posicionamento das minhas decisões e entender do meu gestor o que ele faria diferente no meu lugar. Era uma forma de dar segurança sobre o que eu estava fazendo, o que evitava microgerenciamento sobre mim. Nunca esperei passivamente uma avaliação sobre um projeto. Sempre criava minha forma de mostrar o impacto do que eu fazia e os resultados que entregava. Mas, a segurança para fazer isso vinha da proximidade que eu criava com meus líderes de forma que o ambiente para me posicionar clara e positivamente estivesse pautado na confiança mútua.

Something I have found extremely helpful, as both the manager and individual seeking feedback, is being specific about what aspects on which you would want feedback. This shows a high level of self-awareness that allows for more meaningful coaching conversations. For example, letting your manager know what your career interests are, bringing up a recent project or interaction you feel could have gone better, and asking how you could have handled it differently to develop and demonstrate the skills needed to reach your career goals.

In my experience the best way to demonstrate your value to a company is being teachable. When your teachable that means you know that you can always learn more. That also means you constantly are striving to be better. Your more valuable to a company when you are open to new ways of thinking!!! So ask questions, and be the first in line to touch new systems, softwares or products.

I think the people I like to invest my time in share a few key characteristics: 1️⃣ Willingness to Learn - People have to show that they want to learn and grow. 2️⃣ Enthusiastic - Not only do they want to be there, but they have a great attitude 3️⃣ Professional - I want someone who “plays well in the sandbox” with coworkers and clients. If you can meet these criteria, you will go far in your career generally.

In my experience Managers rarely have the time or energy to consistently track everything you do. I’ve found that keeping a record of all my projects, contributions and achievements is helpful when it comes time to have a 1:1. I’ve used my records to direct the conversation and get the managerial support and backing I needed for bigger and better assignments. I also passed on my notes to my manager when she had to write a report on me. She knew of the work I’d done but hadn’t kept a record of it all. It was a glowing recommendation!
