From my experience, first, potential data issues are identified, such as missing values. For example, customer records might lack email addresses. Next, these issues are ranked by importance, like prioritizing missing emails needed for marketing. Finally, the most important issues are fixed first to ensure reliable data.

You can systematically identify, assess, and prioritize data risks, enabling you to focus resources and efforts on the most critical areas. Few basic things which we need to watch carefully; Identify Data Assets, Classify Data, Identify Threats, Assess Vulnerabilities. Assess the potential impact of each risk on your organization. Higher sensitivity data, such as personally identifiable information (PII) or financial records, typically has a higher impact if compromised. Prioritize risks based on their scores from the risk matrix, focusing on those with the highest potential impact and likelihood. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate the highest-priority risks. Continuously monitor risks and the effectiveness of mitigation measures.
