In my experience, different leadership styles are effective in different situations. For instance, autocratic leadership would be effective during the early stages when the company starts up since autocratic leadership provides an apparent direction and rapid decisions. It's important to curate and craft your personal leadership style thoughtfully. Write about it, set goals around it, and ask for feedback from others on your approach. Are you focusing on metrics or the behaviors that lead to the metrics? Are you managing at close-range or further out? Are you approachable or intimidating? Are you focusing on strengths or correcting opportunities? Then, be willing to toss it out the window. At the end of the day, your style is about expressing your integrity and building culture. Each team member will need to be managed as an individual as well. Leadership isn't about you; it's about enabling others.
