How do you share your ideas in innovation communities?

I agree that they can be people in the same industry but also good to get fresh and perspectives from people in different industries. I belong in a few online communities one being a design - we share and learn from each other, which I keeps me there. Collaboration not competition.

My innovation community presently is composed of a few 1 to 1 conversations with individual thought leaders and intellectuals. Our deep conversations are wide-ranging as we recommend books and share ideas germane to the conversation topic in each weekly zoom session. Not only do I get to know them well, but I am also exposed to, and expose them, to new thinking that we can apply to our work. So not every community needs to be more than 2 interested parties!

I agree with the importance of considering the timing, format, audience, and purpose of your feedback. Additionally, maintaining the proper mindset can also help provide constructive feedback. Instead of immediately saying no to an idea, I try to encourage my innovation community to say “yes, and…” This can help keep communication open and creativity flowing, yet provide an opportunity to voice concerns as well.
