To understand better, think of critical presentation you are putting together. You have a perspective and you go ahead with that and build your entire presentation. You spend the night enriching it with relevant data-points, stories and videos. Next day as you present it to your boss, he tells you that this pitch won't work with this client and we need an altogether different pitch. Imagine if you had first tested the pitch with your boos before spending hours on the presentation!

This involves planning the details of your test, such as who will participate, how will you recruit them, what will you ask them, how will you collect and analyze data, and how will you ensure validity and reliability.
