By committing to deliver a fixed amount of electricity to the grid, the mechanism of a fixed-shape hedge created massive financial risk for the project sponsor. During winter storm Uri, project sponsors lost $$ billions when the underlying risk of this financial product was exposed. Make sure when you sign up for a risk management product that you are not increasing the risk. The people who benefited from these products were the swap desks of the tax equity providers.
