The most effective critical thinking tool I've found is trusting collaboration. When a group of people with diverse perspectives collaborate in a trusting environment on a topic, they don't have to overcome all of their cognitive biases. Instead, their cognitive biases will offset each other bringing the collective closer to knowledge. If you try this without trust, however, you end up with Groupthink where one person's biases infect everyone else. We think better when we think together.
