What are the best CRO research methods for improving website design?

Creo que para la práctica de CRO un buen análisis cualitativo es esencial, con un detalle que comento más abajo. El cuali nos da ese por qué que necesitamos conocer. Las razones de por qué alguien realiza o no un comportamiento. Pero hay que tener algo muy en cuenta. Las personas muchísimas veces no dicen lo que piensan, no piensan lo que dicen y no hacen lo que dicen que harían. Por todo ello, creo que debemos tomar con un poquito de cuidado aquello que nos dicen en entrevistas de usuario, y a veces, tomarlo más como una dirección que asumirlo al pie de la letra.

Algo que contemplar cuando hacemos tests A/B es que, aunque generalmente segmentamos la población en grupos iguales (50/50), una vez tenemos identificado una ganador vale la pena lanzar este iniciativa segmentando al 90% (o 95% si lo preferimos) y dejarlo activo durante un largo periodo de tiempo. Un test A/B tiene una duración generalmente de entre 2 semanas y un mes. Esto no es tiempo suficiente para detectar los efectos a largo plazo e identificar fluctuaciones temporales (por ejemplo el cambio en la forma de consumo los meses de verano). El tener un 10% de usuarios que sigue viendo la versión original, podemos seguir comparando los segmentos y maximizar los resultados.

Al final, con CRO de lo que se trata es de validar una hipótesis. Una suposición audaz. Y como tal, cuanto más consigamos basar nuestra suposición en datos, mejor. Y los datos son cuantitativos y cualitativos. En principio cuantos más datos tengamos que corroboren (o no) nuestra hipótesis, más probabilidades habrá de que sea válida. Y por último decir que la capacidad de probar hipótesis, de experimentar, siempre será una capacidad que es muy diferencial y que ayudará a crear la experiencia adecuada con mayor seguridad.
