What is the best font for a slide title?

Content, context and objectives are the precursors to any presentation. The title has a multitude of roles, it is informative, but also should be attractive and exciting, it's the first thing conveying information and setting the mood of the audience. Us designers, we rely on various forms to convey our ideas, the title 's size, font, colour and effects placed strategically will do half the work for us. It could de in a question form, an image, a playful font or a rigid statement. Each has a different effect or result.

Comic Sans, obviously. Nothing screams 'I'm a professional' like a font that looks like it was designed for a lemonade stand's grand opening.

In addition, to the font type consider the font colour. - There are colours that do not project well on screen. - There are also psychological meaning behind colours that can support or negatively impact your communication.

Don't ever use generic fonts like Times New Roman, Garamond, Calibri or Arial. They are waaaaaay too common. Stand out. Choose Century Gothic, Tahoma or Trebuchet. If you are familiar with embedding fonts option, then choose some designer fonts: Playfair Display for slide title (serif font) and Montserrat for body text (sans serif font).

Context is truly important. Audience analysis will enable one to pick the right font. However, irrespective of the audience, readability is the most crucial. Choosing a font that is readable by the audience ensures that they connect with your presentation from the get go.

The honest answer is a big one! More photos less text. Big and bold is the key. Only use two or three fonts per presentation and never use Comic Sans 😬

From my point of view it's depend on the size and content. But when it comes to arabic commercial content I'm preferred the sans arabic font familly or even their alternative.

In my experience while presenting a power point one should use simple fonts rather than a fancy font the reason of this is, while using fancy fonts a presentation might look attractive but it would not serve the purpose clearly. Using simple fonts may help you to make your point clear and look formal.

If you need to deliver the presentation data in advance to an external part, make sure to either use only regularly available fonts, so the presentation won't lose the settings on a different platform, or to make sure you deliver the necessary fonts (eg corporate fonts) in a folder with your presentation.

Should use simple font which doesn’t distract the content of the presentation. Fancy fonts with unnecessary embellishments reduce the legibility and readability.

Within any presentation you should have no more than 3 different fonts at a maximum, ideally 2. I love a fancy font, especially a nicely rounded calligraphy, but they're mostly not appropriate. Ideally we would use simple, sans, modern and bold for your titles (& most presentation tools can alter the distance between characters and lines; that can also make a huge difference). Subtitles can be the same font as titles, but bold, smaller and spaced slightly differently. Body text should be sans, easy to read for native and non-native speakers, colored appropriately and to complement your title fonts. Whether a company or an independent presentation, consider creating your own brand font guidelines and stick to them.

With that said the other thing to mention is to make the meaning of your title count.

The best font for a slide is NO font! Ha ha! Replace images with pictures wherever possible. If you must put text then the best question to ask is, is this the best way to visually reinforce my point? If the answer is yes keep the slide. If the answer is no, fix up the look of it. I teach 30 point as a minimum - but it does depend on whether you're building slide in front of their eyes or just clicking it up in one go. Another cool question is, 'can the audience read this and understand it in 10 seconds?' As you may guess, it's called the '10 second rule'! This is something presentation skills trainers have been teaching for decades and I think it still applies. Good luck!

None - don’t use slide titles. Slides aren’t pages in a report therefore they rarely need a title. If your audience is that lost that you need to tell them in writing what you are talking about, then you have a much bigger problem than font, actually I think they mean typeface, type and size.

The colors you’re using are key as well! Many times, I try to utilize my brand colors but then sometimes it depends on the word. For example, the word NEW, I might use a white as it signifies purity, untouched….New!
