There is quite a bit more to comlnsider after reading this article. This article does a poor job in addressing the two major POS platforms available today. The first thing to address is the nature of your POS solution. If you have to address maintenence at all will change radically depending on if the POS platform is cloud based or not. The other element to address is POS client architecture. Many modern POS solutions use mobile operating systems vs. the more tradional desktop operating systems. Mpst mobile O/S clients maintain their systems via a software push. Where as desktop O/S (Windows, Linux) will be subscription based.
