In the recording realm to achieve the sounds you’re looking for seek how, and what was used in the recording process (e.g. microphone, proximity, room, sound board, instrumentation, pedals, doubling, and such). Then try your own approaches, thinking outside the box.

Experimenting and breaking away from routine practice is key to keeping things fresh! Not everything is exciting on the sheet of music. Sometimes you need to veer off course and see where the emotions take you. Kind of like Jazz… a true soloist never needs a written solo!

Be willing to constantly change! I got stuck in a routine for a couple years and nothing got better or much different. Be willing to change the key you regularly work in, the plugins you use (go download new free ones there are thousands), shift a genre over. If you produce EDM try techno, if you produce rap, try hip-hop etc... Mix it up or you'll stop learning. Every time you branch out it brings back new nutrients to your roots.

La curva de aprendizaje no es únicamente una sucesión de éxitos, sino una combinación de fracasos y logros... Ese es el único modo de afianzar un método de trabajo a futuro. Encuentra un colega a la par de tu evolución para siempre tener una mirada objetiva de lo que produces. Uno escucha con más facilidad lo que ya conoce y entonces se pierde objetividad.

Aprende de tus pares, de tus mentores y de tus aprendices. Todos tienen algo que aportarte. Sé generoso con el intercambio de información. El guardar en secreto metodologías o cualquier tip que hayas descubierto, no te hará más talentoso. En esta profesión, por más competitiva que sea, la red de colegas es importante. La generosidad intelectual, vuelve siempre a lo largo de tu carrera profesional. No hay milagros para una carrera exitosa. Es trabajo. Constancia. Profundidad en la investigación y tiempo. No creas todo lo que ves. Detrás de los productores estrella que salieron de la nada, a veces hay "ghost producers" haciendo el trabajo real. La carrera se corre. Y es una maratón. No se gana por azar en un par de años...

Acostúmbrate a usar el software en inglés. No es tán difícil. La razón: El inglés es a la informática musical, lo que el idioma italiano a la música. La terminología original proviene de esa lengua. Eso te permitirá a futuro, trabajar en cualquier país del mundo, dominando los términos originales en inglés. Acostúmbrate a los atajos de teclados para las tareas de edición dentro del ambiente informático con el que trabajas. Si haces eso gastará menos la vista (porque no estás todo el tiempo con los ojos en el monitor) y además irás muchísimo más rápido. Cuida los niveles de exposición sonora y la ergonomía de tu ambiente de trabajo. Esas cuestiones no atendidas durante los primeros años de tu carrera, las pagarás caro en el futuro.
