Shell scripting with bash is my personal favorite way of automating regular tasks in Linux. You could achieve almost the same with other languages like python. Try to always create scripts to help you do your job with less error and faster. Start by creating simple scripts and always think modular. If you need to perform a complex task try to break it into several chunks and create one script per chunk that will be called from other scripts using bash or source commands. This will allow you to reuse your code and make it easier to maintain. I also like to make it as dynamic as possible using parameters when calling a script this allows for less scripts that can be used in several ways depending on the parameters used.

Testing is a non-negotiable step in automation. A faulty script can cause widespread disruption. Start by running scripts in a controlled environment, such as a virtual machine or a container. Test for different scenarios and edge cases to ensure reliability. Gradually introduce successful scripts into your production environment, monitoring their performance and impact.
