At the end of the day this is analogous to a conflict with your spouse, emotions lead to greater distrust and you can't take it personally unless your looking to get divorced.

Listening to the concerns and focus on understanding the gaps leading to this. Resist the urge to respond immediately without getting the full context of the concerns being raised. Ask clarifying questions if needed. Respond to the concerns and provide as much feedback and data used in reaching the decision. However, be receptive and open to new data that conflicts with the original decision. In certain situations, you may have to review the earlier decision or use this as a learning opportunity to grow in this area.

Staying Calm, detaching yourself from idea is the key when your boss questions your IT decisions, handle it with professionalism and openness. Start by actively listening to their concerns and clarifying any misunderstandings. Calmly explain the rationale behind your decisions, using data and examples to support your points. Evaluar el mismo y de ser pertinente dejarle saber y agradecer, de no ser procedente; pedirle escuche mis argumentos a fin de lograr el consenso necesario, ya que puede haber falta de información sobre la decisión a tomar. Si persiste su cuestionamiento, efectuar retirada estratégica dejando en pendiente la toma de decisión y evaluar otras alternativas a la misma, para retomar el tema en un momento mas oportuno.

It is important to clarify these concerns to confirm to them that you understand these issues they have stated and present the concerns back to them in a manner which only seeks to confirm that you understood them. This is done by asking questions that will help you understand in more details any information they are willing to share and put them even in a more convenient mood to share some of the things they may consider a solution to these concerns they have raised.

Be transparent. If your boss is challenging your decisions you need to own the fact that you weren’t transparent enough and now there are questions. Listen first and ask clarifying questions as necessary to ensure you understand the concerns. Validate the concerns; they are real and you are addressing them now. Share your decision-making process and explain how the concerns were or are being considered. And make absolutely certain to use language your boss will understand.

Infer to the boss that he/she is a moron and should keep his/her mouth shut related to IT discussions and that you don't understand how they got into management in the first place.

Present a guideline on how you have arrived at your decisions. These guidelines should show the processes you go through when making these decisions. I usually call this the "Problem Lifecycle". It contains the process you go through from when the problem was identified up until you arrive as the would-be solution. This helps clear the air that you are not making an irrational decision.

I've had a personal experience where one of the seniors had a disagreement with regards to the Project that is about to be started (with prior budget approval). I presented the overall systems architecture and roadmap so that they will see the overall picture of how each component would work and integrate with each other. I emphasized some well known facts like addressing Single Point of Failure and that there is a necessary redundancy of data, and that there is a specific purpose for each system (ERP, CRM, DMS, etc.). It's not a one-size-fits-all kind of situation when it comes to designing your company's systems. At the end of the day, it was their decision to make and I presented the facts to which is up to them to accept or reject.

In a Problem Lifecycle, alternatives and the reason why they remain alternatives to the decision you arrived at, are usually presented. However, since no one man is a buddle of knowledge, it is also important to bounce off these alternatives around your team formally or informally to get an idea of what you're missing before arriving at the conclusion.
