What do you do if your boss's communication style and preferences clash with yours?

When my employer and I have different communication styles and preferences, I try to accommodate by learning about their methods and figuring out a medium ground. In an effort to reach a common understanding, I openly address my concerns and hear other people out. In order to ensure clarity, I also advise putting in place tools or techniques that could help us communicate differently, including written summaries or frequent check-ins. I remain professional the entire time, keeping my attention on how we can collaborate well to accomplish our common objectives.

Conceptually and practically, we have individual differences that reflect on our communication styles and preferences with others, this is normal and acceptable. In the initial period of joining a new job or having a new line manager, the most important task is to observe his style to adapt to it.
