Whenever I need to work deeply with someone, I ask them a set of questions. Their communication style, how often they prefer meeting, if they want instructions verbally or written, if they prefer public or private praise, etc. I also share my answers. Asking these up front can save you from future disagreements, misunderstandings, and loss of productivity.
