When explaining Data Science to people, I often compare it back to 20 years ago. We had a data group (produce/maintain the data), a research group (analyze the data), and an analysis group (see how the data can be used). A data scientist is all three. One must be creative in sourcing the right data, figuring out how to analyze the data, then preparing the story of the data for others (who are not experts in the data). Creativity at each step of the process is what differentiates data scientists who 'get it' vs those that do not.

Creativity in the world of data science is one of the many skills most sought after by headhunters, let's face it, in addition to having technical skills for the most part, creativity is what makes us stand out, being able to draw insight from a world or sea of data is what gives us that plus as analysts, scientists, data engineers, to analyze problems, break them down (crumble them), put them in step by step and solve them without ambiguity.
