From my perspective, the most important aspect is that the person realizes themselves that there are gaps in their product leadership skills and develops a plan to address them. It's our job to coach them to this realization. From this point, a solution can be found either by upskilling the individual or by mentoring them, or by finding a team solution (if possible). We need to cover all relevant skills somehow, but in my experience, there can be a team solution that covers certain skills (e.g., business, technical). However, some skills (e.g., leadership) can't be replaced by a team.
