What do you do if your software startup is struggling to attract and retain top talent?

I could see that crafting a timeliness competitive compensation and benefits structure is absolutely significant at any given point to meet the industry salary & benefit demands. Further such compensation and benefits must be aligned with current productivity that the organization performs or is expected potential.This could be achieved by having salary surveys basically as a start.

I believe there would be two parts to this- 1. Augmenting culture to all employee uniformly - In my last startup we had the challenge of actioning core values for newer values to ensure consistent employee experience. 2. Communicating EVP to prospective employees - We did this by understanding what truly sets the organisation apart from peers and communicating this via our founders, social media and other leaders, to our audience.

Talk with team and find out the main flaw . Know the reason behind of occurring that flaw. Work on that with taking possible solution with other team members and senior expert to minimize and overcome from that. If needed to provide the training then conduct the training and motivation class .

Career growth must be a blend of both the performance and the seniority. But more weightage has to be allocated for performance.Therefore the organization has to have a vivid cadre plan and aligned it with a sustainable succession planning would be an ideal fit for a startup.

Offering unique perks will always be attracting to the potential candidates , I would like to distinguish perks into two separate categories as : 1. Monetary Perks 2. Non Monetary Perks *In item one, considering the startup business module its always advised to align the perks to be offered within the revenue generation scope, so that business is able to sustain. *Non-Monetary perks could always be within the team and in the organization itself. Such as having a flexible working environment, reporting to a visionary leader, equal employer opportunities ,exceptional T&D Opportunities, a space to fail and learn from mistakes (Subject to no-monetary value involved ) are few of the examples I would like to share.

In addition to everything shared, building an employer brand that is healthy and visible attracts top talent to the organization. Flexibility also includes allowing employees to explore their own interests, build their own personal brand and express their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit through the work they do.
