In my experience as Stephen Covey I believe stated something like this” Seek to understand, then seek to be understood.” Conflict resolution involves being present, listening, seeing, feeling, and sensing, not only what is spoken, but many times what is not spoken. Sometimes what people attach their energy in the moment, too, is not the real issue. Identifying the why in a situation creates the opportunity to create the what to do to possibly resolve the conflict.
