What do you do if your team is in conflict over algorithmic decisions?

In case of a team conflict over algorithmic decisions, it’s crucial to first understand the issues. Listen to each member’s viewpoint, analyze the debated algorithms, and consider factors like computational complexity and space-time trade-offs. This understanding will help identify the conflict’s root and work towards a technically sound resolution.

In the first place, there shouldn't be a conflict regarding which algorithm to implement in a project unless someone's emotion is involved. The reason for that is if the project requires an x algorithm that satisfies minimum a b c criteria, then one of the two proposed algorithms will outperform the other in those criteria. Therefore, there shouldn't be a conflict in which algorithm to choose.

Foster a safe environment for sharing thoughts and concerns. This promotes understanding of the algorithms and collaborative problem-solving. The goal isn’t to win an argument, but to find the best project solution. Respectful communication can bridge gaps and bring consensus.

When we are deciding which algorithm to choose, there are many things that are looked upon and considered, but here are 3 things I feel are the most important: 1.
