What do you do if your team is resistant to implementing quality management practices?

The far bigger issue is what do you do if management is resistant to quality management? As Deming pointed out, workers want to do their best. Workers want quality. 11 of Deming's 14 points focus on helping workers. Dr Deming focused on educating management when he rescued them from bankruptcy in 1982. Sadly, Ford was slow to learn. A few years later they went back to a focus on the specification and bought into the Six Sigma Scam. A long term study revealed an average of 220,000 dpmo across hundreds of "successful" Six Sigma projects at Ford. Their cars are still a quality disaster. It is critical that management learns and understands what Quality means, rather than the endless search for magic bullets.

It is nature law and when ever any change there would be résistance from implementation team . It is very important to handle the change management in systematic and with proper planning. Before implementation of the change ,involve team by proper awareness of purpose and need of change . Timely review and actions at right time is key for success

People won't perform as expected when Quality Management Practices (or any other change) is introduced either because they don't understand WHY? (Is needed) or because they don't know HOW? (skills needed) or simply because they CAN'T (Task interference). Feedback, escencial en el proceso, ya lo tienes, analizalo e implementa lo que se debe, cuando una idea de retorno no es suficiente, ahonda en ella, busca que el originador la perfeccione apuntando al equipo de trabajo, más ideas mejores opciones (brainstorm). Generarás oportunidades de ser parte de la mejora, y vas adentrando al equipo al las nuevas implementaciones que vienen en el proceso de gestión de calidad.

The change is generally unwelcome, as staff are generally not in favor of change because it means a new routine. To get these changes accepted, it's important to: - Explain the goals. - Communicate very clearly the reason for the change. - Involve staff in the decision-making process. Each operator can, thanks to his or her experience, bring a vision and solutions to the problems encountered.

Politely point out working here is not compulsory..... As long as the reasons have been clearly explained why the change is necessary with ample time for people to raise questions.
