😄 well well, haven't we been here before! Most designers are not future ready, in fact there is a strong resistance to get there. Designers are not just aversive of change, they fear it. In the ever changing digital landscape, we need to mould ourselves to evolve with the times, embrace new job responsibilities and not be limited to what they have been doing for the past 15 years. I would point to designers who are practitioners of visual design, they need to evolve. They can easily get into business development, consulting if they have the will and appetite for it. Its very easy to say - upskill, but where is the intent. I don't see fire in anyone's belly!

Quick note: learn Figma, not XD, which is already on its way out. Anyways, figure out which tools are actually relevant to what your project needs, and learn organically. If you haven’t gotten your first UX job yet, don’t learn “tools” in a vacuum. Get practice on projects and slowly build up your toolkit as you get experience going through the design process. Advanced figma component hacks and fancy prototype interactions alone won’t show employers that you understand design, can work with stakeholders to understand needs and articulate rationale, and iterate based on feedback and unforeseen parameters.

Stay Curious: Don't be afraid to explore new UX design tools and software. Many offer free trials or introductory courses to get you started. Focus on Practical Application: Don't just learn the features. Apply your newfound knowledge to personal projects or volunteer work to solidify your understanding.

It’s creating and updating a workflow that works best for your UX projects that will easily keep you on the top of the UX tool game. Research tools like Qualtrics, JASP etc., data visualization tools such as Google Forms and Tableau, design tools such as Illustrator and Figma, and prototyping tools such as Protopie are only some of the more popularly used tools to help create riveting UX design solutions.

There are many online communities where newcomers to the industry team up to work on projects they're passionate about. Joining these groups can be really beneficial because: 1. You get to work on projects you care about, which can be more exciting than some office tasks. 2. It's a chance to meet new people and learn from each other. 3. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone: Seek out opportunities to work on projects outside your usual domain. This broadens your perspective and exposes you to new challenges. Maintain your passion. By immersing yourself in UX and living and breathing it, you'll effortlessly keep updated on the latest trends.

So, there is a lot of learning ground to cover to stay relevant in the current market and be ready for the future. Learning should never stop.
