What do you do if you're unsure how to make a positive impact on society as a professional in CSR?

Being a CSR professional, I prefer the community's need matrix, monitor the project and its objectives regularly as if they still need to revive, this can be done on time. I prefer working on the theory of change and logical framework at the time of creation of a project. Participatory learning action is a method to use to encourage beneficial participation of beneficiaries . Continuous engagement with stakeholders, Evaluating the intermediate results

Ask your stakeholder. It is as simple as that. When you get in contact with your external stekaholder like NGO's, your communities, or other players in society they will tell you what they need. The same ist true for your internal stakeholders. Talk to your people in the different units and you will get many insights. In the end the challenge is in most cases not to get the needs, but to structure them and decide which need to fullfill first.

It's not enough to set SMART goals. You've got to make an inspirational impact. What kind of profound change would you like to help bring to people's quality of life? What would you like the community/ country/world like in five years? How can you help make this vision happen? Creating a macro-level transformation is challenging, requiring the collaboration of many partners and stakeholders, but it's the first step in making a long-lasting impact.

Setting SMART goals (Specific, Measureable, Attractive, Realistic, Time bound) for CSR Initiatives helps you to a. start the project in the right direction🛫 b. track the progress 🖥️ c. engage the other team members🤝 d. communicate status quo to stakeholders📣 e. adjust timely when neccessary⏱️ d. have the end in mind and know "how good looks like".👍 e. Be able to celebrate success when the goal is reached 🥳

Be a proactive strong communicator and engage whereever possible. This will really help you to spread the good CSR news within the company. Many people have a very positive attitude towards CSR but they are also full of work with their day to day job. So they will barely get in contact with you to help or support the CSR project. But when they are good informed and always up to date about the progress, chances are good that they then also want to be part of the success and are willing to help when needed.

See comments above under point 1. You need to engage your professionals earlier in the process. It's easier to achieve their buy in if you engage them in building out your strategy. That way when you announce the program/initiative to the organization, you can say - we looked at what we're good at as an organization, where society needs the most help and what YOU are interested in - and here's where those three things intersect...we're going to differentially invest our people's time, our skills and our $ in this area, hoping to achieve X thing.

Having one source of truth for impact reporting is paramount. Not only for determining impact on a base level (funds distributed, participation rates, etc) but also extrapolating deeper insights that mean something to the public and to senior leadership (time to impact, diversity milestones, employee success and retention, clear ROI). Without it, you’re flying blind.
