What are effective ways to develop a sense of purpose in teaching?

Rediscovering my why has been a transformative journey. My motivation springs from a desire to foster a love for learning, leaving an indelible mark on each student. Reflecting on my purpose continually fuels my passion, reminding me of the profound impact educators can have. One helpful strategy on this journey has been setting aside dedicated time for self-reflection, allowing me to align my teaching practices with my core values and aspirations

I'd like to remind you that revising your why is paramount to establishing your teacher identity. I believe educators should do this often and build a reflection on their why into their regular monthly lesson planning and preparation. Not only should your why guide your broader purpose as an educator, but you should also be able to connect your why to every lesson and every interaction you have with students, families, and peers. One thing to remember is that your why will evolve just as you do. The purpose you established at the beginning of your career may not be the same as it is now, and that's ok. Your why is not linear, but you must always reflect on it and stay grounded in it.
